The Mediation TeamTHE MEDIATION TEAM - WHO? WHAT? WHEN? WHERE? WHO? DONNA CROSBY SLOAN is an experienced mediator, trained and certified by the American Arbitration Association, who is expanding upon her background in both civil and family law mediation to establish a special niche as a "co-parenting mediator". In a forum that will focus on helping divorcing parents, youth, and families embroiled in post-divorce conflicts, Donna brings her years of childrearing experience, having been a single parent, a stepparent, and having raised four children in a blended family system. Coupled with her training in dealing with special needs children, behavior disorders, attention deficit disorders, and her work as a guardian ad litem, she is uniquely qualified to deal with families who are having troubled communications, parental alienation themes, at-risk children, and who need to explore positive pro-active techniques to create joint custody arrangements that really work. WHAT? If you find that your dispute or case is at an impasse, neither "side" is understanding the other, you need the Mediation Team to help the parties identify what is truly important and work toward an agreement that is mutually satisfying. Using a team approach, and depending on the particular needs of your case, your mediation may call for one, two, or even all three professionals working together in a neutral capacity to evaluate options and address legitimate concerns. WHEN? The initial mediation session usually lasts two to three hours, and follow-up sessions are available. WHERE? Additionally, we have conference rooms in our Gwinnett office located off Pleasant Hill Road. HOW TO SCHEDULE A MEDIATOR? 1. Call Shirley Perry, at (770) 642-0815, to schedule a mediation session, giving a brief description of the nature of the dispute and the names of the parties. 2. It is not necessary to explain in detail the specifics of the dispute. In fact, we prefer not to hear your "side" of the dispute prior to the mediation. 3. You and the opposing party will be mailed or faxed material in advance of the mediation to explain the process. 4. Your mediator will serve in a neutral capacity and cannot represent either you or the opposing party, if the mediation is not successful in resolving the dispute.
